Carthage: A Synopsis of its Mythology and History as Reflected in its Numismatic Legacy
Presented by Stephen Antonello and Thomas Beniak
Since time immemorial, human nature has demonstrated a proclivity if not vulnerability to respond negatively to rivalry and competition. These ingrained tendencies gave rise to the greatest military conflict experienced by mankind until modern times. Carthage vs Rome produced the three Punic Wars and untold casualties and carnage as well as one of history’s most brilliant tacticians. An extensive numismatic chronicle survives. We will aspire to provide a basic summary of the above which had an incalculable influence on shaping the western world.

General Meeting Information:
Today, we have about fifty paid members and a typical club meeting attracts 15-20 members. At times, our meetings attract as many as 40 members and guests. Although the club has had numismatic luminaries as members, the heart and soul of the club has always been the average collector. So whether your pocketbook allows you to seek out beautiful rarities, or confines you to the occasional humble bronze, you are welcome at TCACC.
What day are the meetings?
Meetings are normally held on the fourth Thursday of the month. No meetings are held in July or August. The November meeting is usually held on another date due to Thanksgiving or on the 5th Thursday, if available. See the meeting schedule below:
